Luke 2:1-20

“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

“And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.”

Christmas Break

To allow for greater flexibility in travel and perhaps in allowing for quarantine time, we have changed our Christmas break to begin this coming Monday, December 21, and end on Friday, January 1, with a January 4 return to school.  This adds one school day to the break and another weekend to it.

If your family has already scheduled a trip and will not return until January 5, please send a note to our school office.  January 4 will be treated as an excused absence in this case.  Of course, if you have any questions, please contact our school office.

Preparing for Remote Learning

As we have noted in previous editions of this Knightline newsletter, our staff has been preparing all school year just in case we need to transition to remote learning for any time in the school year.  We believe we are much better prepared this year—just in case.

Of course, it remains our plan to continue with in-person learning as long as our local health department says it is safe to do so.  We believe that remaining in the classroom is the best way for all of our students to learn, and we continue to work to prevent any possible spread of the virus here at school.

If you have any questions about any of our COVID plans or about our plans for any remote learning, please contact Mr. Fry or your child’s teacher.

THANK YOU from Our Teachers

On behalf of each of our teachers and staff members, we want to express our sincere gratitude for so many gifts toward our staff Christmas bonus.  All of our teachers love their students and are serving the Lord sacrificially each day.  It encourages each staff member to see these expressions of love and support.  Thank you—and Merry Christmas!

Virtual Christmas Programs

Each of our kindergarten, elementary, and secondary classes (other than the 3rd-4th grade) has prepared and presented a virtual Christmas program this year.  While we wish we could all be together in our church auditorium and celebrate Christ’s birth together, we know that is not possible this year.  Instead, the classes have posted their work to our school’s YouTube channel.  We have created a special playlist of all of the 2020 virtual Christmas programs here: http://s.lcany.org/programs.

We appreciate the support of each of our students and parents and the hard work of each of our teachers to make these programs happen!

Upcoming Days Off

Please watch our school calendar for several days off coming up over the next couple of months.  LCA will be closed for the federal holiday on Monday, January 18, and will also be closed for Winter Break from Monday, February 15, through Friday, February 19.  We appreciate our parents as they schedule special trips and outings during these vacation times.
