Thoroughly Furnished

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

2 Timothy 3:15-16

As a faculty and staff, it is our desire to be preparing students to be thoroughly furnished unto all good works.  We don’t want to be sending out simply mediocre students or those who are prepared only to dabble in their field.

Instead, we strongly desire that our students be fully prepared for future work and ministry.  These good works should be done to bring glory to our Father in heaven, not simply for our own financial or emotional security.  We want our students to seek to please him in everything that they do.

Many educational journals and self-help books claim they have the key to successful teaching.  The start of the passage above gives us the best answer, however.  The Word of God as He has revealed it in the Bible will best prepare both us and our students for the future.

This preparation begins by accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior.  Our teachers faithfully share God’s simple plan of salvation with our students throughout the school year.

Only once a student has accepted Christ can the true preparation take place.  We teach that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of both knowledge and wisdom.

After that wisdom has been firmly established in the lives of our students, we will truly begin to see them “thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

This process will take many years; in fact, it will take the rest of our lives.  Our goal as your children’s teachers is to play a small part in that preparation and to see them someday recognized by our Lord as good and faithful servants!
