All Things Are Become New

“If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Although it hasn’t looked or felt a lot like springtime lately, we all look forward to the coming of spring each year.  Seeing the trees budding, the flowers blooming, and the fields greening can be an important lesson for all of us.

By nature, our hearts are as barren as a winter landscape.  We are born with no relationship with God, no power to fight temptation or accomplish anything lasting.  Most importantly, we are born headed for an eternity of judgment without God.

By God’s grace, however, he sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to come to live, die, and be resurrected for our sins.  Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, our entire existence changes.

No longer are our hearts forced to be a barren wasteland; now they can “become new” like springtime fields coming back to life.

The transformation that takes place when we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord is total.  We are described as “new creatures”!  While we may outwardly appear as the same person, our hearts are changed since “old things have passed away.”

We can thank God for His amazing sacrifice and gift.  After the snow finally ends and we see nature coming back to life this spring, we can be reminded of that offer of new life in Jesus Christ.

Standardized Testing

The week of April 23, our students in K5 through grade 11 will be taking the Iowa Achievement Tests, our school’s annual standardized testing.  We ask you to be sure your students are in attendance and on time each day and that they get a good night’s rest each evening and a healthy breakfast each morning throughout this week.  If you have any questions about this testing, please contact Mrs. Mein or your child’s teacher.  Thank you for your help through this important part of our program here at LCA.

Senior Trip

Please be in prayer for our seniors.  They, along with Mr. Fry and Mr. Coonrod, will be leaving on their annual senior trip to The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center in North Carolina on Sunday afternoon, April 22.  They will have an exciting week of camping, zip lining, whitewater rafting, swimming, and fellowship with Christian school seniors from across the nation.  They will also hear good preaching from some strong Christian leaders and spend time in Bible study and prayer during this week together.

Keep an eye on our school’s Facebook page for pictures and other updates from North Carolina while our seniors are away.

NYACS Elementary Fine Arts – No Classes

On Friday, May 4, LCA will be hosting elementary students from all around New York State for our annual fine arts festival for students in grades 4 through 6.  This will be an exciting day of activity around the school.

Because of this event, there will be no school for students in K3, K4, K5, Grades 1-3, or 7-11.  Please be sure to see your child’s teacher or our school office with any questions.

Students in Grades 4-6 should plan to be at school as directed by their teachers and will be dismissed around the regular time in the afternoon.  Parents of these students are also encouraged to attend the competition, if possible.

Spring Pictures

By now, all families should have received the pictures they ordered on our spring picture day.  Please check your order carefully.  Several families have found problems with the order.  If you find any problems or have any questions, please contact Mrs. Kettlewood.

K4 End-of-Year Program

Please note a change to the end-of-year schedule for our K4 students.  Our special program for K4 students and their families will be held together with the K5 graduation program.

K4 and K5 families should make plans now to be here at the school on Thursday evening, June 7, starting at 7:00 PM.  Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions.
